Daisy Tattoos

tattoo designs

Generally speaking, daisy tattoos are often meant to symbolize simplicity and peace. These designs are usually thought to be a feminine style. However, placed alongside contrasting symbols, or in a variety of different colors, daisy tattoos may develop a more unisex appeal.

Although white daisy tattoos are an emblem of purity and innocence, there are a whole plethora of colors you may use to express a variety of meaning. A bold red may show confidence and vitality, while yellow may mean joy and wisdom. Purple can express mystery and seduction, as blue will express peace and spirituality. In this style you can use a single daisy, or a bouquet featuring all of your chosen colors. You can also create a chain to wrap around you arms, legs or stomach with each bloom blossoming from a strong vine.

Daisy tattoos occasionally show an amalgamation between the flower and other symbols. One interesting idea is to play off of the flower’s Olde English derivative of “day’s eye.” In this depiction you can show the simple white daisy, an eye at the center, and the bright rays of the sun behind it. You could also depict the nymph Belides being gently and hazily transformed into the shape of a daisy.

Daisy tattoos can also feature other greenery. Given that all plants are a wellspring of symbolism, it is not unusual to see the daisy placed modestly in a bunch of flora. However, if you would prefer to accentuate your flower, you could make the bouquet of daisies larger, or make a single, oversize daisy at the center of a ring of flowers. You could also depict your flowers as a unique variation of Earth and space. In this instance, the center of the daisy may show small towns and cities, with a bustle of activity on the surface, while your other chosen blooms may depict the surrounding stars and planets.

Most daisy tattoos are quite simple. They generally show a small and discreet white flower blossoming from the skin. However, as you can see above, these tiny, unassuming plants can be used to create wild, creative and stunning pieces of art.

To some people, octopus tattoos signify grace, adaptability, intellect and wisdom. To others, they hold very little significant meaning; they simply think they are beautiful.

Most octopus tattoos feature a realistic depiction. These designs are generally done in a larger style and may show the octopus wrapping its long tentacles around the wearer; either around the back and sides, arms or even legs. This style may also feature this creature in its natural setting; a dark blue ocean scene, large rocks and hunks of coral, and possibly even small fish surrounding it. One interesting idea would be to create a scene of the octopus wrestling with a diver wearing a large antique helmet, and heavy suit.

Many octopus tattoos show this creature in an unusual way. The eight long arms could be morphed into a similar image as a hypnotists’ spiral disc wheel; the suckers may be turned into small pearls; and the round body could be turned into the image of a globe, while the tentacles are used to depict the strong waves of the ocean. Given the almost otherworldly appearance, many octopus tattoos feature a creature similar to an alien or large bug. The body could easily be morphed into a brain, with large and sinister eyes, perhaps even fangs; while the tentacles may be barbed, or even have the appearance of secreting a lime green poison. You could take this image a step further and invent an octopus robot. The body and arms made of shiny metal, red eyes and guns or fire blazing from the suckers.

Although some octopus tattoos show a more aggressive figure, some may take a softer approach. This image is generally done in a cartoon style, and shows the octopus in light colors of purple, blue and occasionally even yellow. Some people like to show the creature with an overly large body, and very small tentacles; sometimes they have large doe eyes and a cheerful expression. This style often depicts the creature in motion; playing with its fellow deep sea life, lifting a hat from its head or going through any number of human-like motions.

Although there are many ways to depict the octopus, there is no denying that whatever you choose, it will undoubtedly be one of the more unique pieces around.

Love tattoos are most regularly used to depict the deep feelings that the wearer has for a particular individual. This person might be a significant other, a family member or a child. Love tattoos may also signify a certain fascination a person has with the strong, often sensual emotion of love and all that goes with it.

When love tattoos are meant to show the emotions a person has towards someone specific, they may use a portrait-type image of them, usually with names and dates printed onto a banner, or circling the face. There may also be a wreath of roses (the modern symbol of romantic love), aster (a symbol of sweet, delicate love), and bluebell (the emblem for everlasting love). Other symbols used for this design may be fire, to signify passion; broad, bold circles to show the unending nature of the relationship; and, of course, hearts.

Some love tattoos take a less specific direction. These are normally single symbols like hearts, lips or even kanji script. Sometimes these images are melded together; for instance, two swans holding their beaks together, creating a heart shape. One interesting idea would be to place small flowers or opals (a symbol of both love and hope), within the open areas of a Celtic love knot.

Love tattoos are not all simple symbols and portraits. You can create an interesting design by taking the profile of both the wearer, and the beloved individual and melding them together. This design could easily take the symbol route, and morph into the shape of a heart, or have a large, blooming rose in the center. This style could also feature names and dates, as well as quotes, stories or poems of important significance. Another idea would be for the couple to be joined in an embrace and surrounded, and held together by rings, or red, purple or white ribbon.

Although love tattoos are generally used by a person who is actually in love, it is quite common for a person to be consumed by the idea of such a powerful and mysterious emotion, and want to express it with something as bold and lasting as love is supposed to be.
